A practice rooted in care
Kindred Gardens sits at the intersection of plants, people, and place.
Kindred Gardens creates and cares for plant rich, evolving gardens rooted in a love of nature and connection. Each project begins by getting to know your space - its light, soil, rhythms, and quirks - alongside your personal style and the way you want to live in it. From this we create a bespoke design, shaped by careful observation and a detailed planting plan tailored specifically to your garden’s conditions.
From small city spaces to larger, evolving landscapes across Sussex - Kindred offers garden design and creation alongside ongoing consultancy and care, supporting gardens that thrive through the seasons. Sustainability and biodiversity sit at the centre of every decision, with planting chosen to nurture pollinators, birds, and soil health, creating gardens to be lived in and loved over time.
Gardens as living systems
Kindred Gardens approaches each garden as an evolving system, shaped by growth, change, and its relationship to season, weather, and care. With focus on creating the right conditions - healthy soil, appropriate planting, and thoughtful care - the garden can strengthen over time.
Kindred Gardens supports this process through observation and seasonal knowledge, responding to what the garden shows rather than enforcing a rigid plan. This allows space for resilience, wildlife, and quiet abundance to emerge naturally.
Hello, I’m Hannah
Garden designer and founder of Kindred Gardens
Gardening has been part of my life for as long as I can remember, growing from a childhood love of plants into a career. After years of hands-on experience, I trained in horticulture and garden design at Plumpton College in Sussex.
For the past ten years, I’ve worked with gardens across Sussex, specialising in planting design, creating layered, seasonal spaces full of texture, movement and life.
Through Kindred Gardens, I create calm, personal gardens that support wildlife and feel deeply connected to nature.
Gardens as Sanctuary
Nature supports wellbeing
A garden offers a quiet sanctuary where people can slow down, reconnect with nature, and support their mental and emotional wellbeing.
